15 Day Mountain Bike road trip report and video
So I had asked you guys several times for help putting together a trail list for a road trip I had planned across country. Originally the trip was planned for 30 days, but in Utah I ended up having to cut it short. Here are the areas I ended up riding. If I butchered the names, sorry.
- Kitsuma, NC
- Bent Creek Experimental Forest, NC
- Baker Creek Preserve, TN
- Coler Preserve, AK
- Slaughterpen, AK
- Iron Mountain, AK
- Arkansas Hills, CO
- Methodist Mountain, CO
- Cottonwood, CO
- Cheyenne Canon, CO
- Buffalo Creek (Big and Little Scraggly), CO
- Kokopelli, CO
- 18 Road, CO
- Mag 7, UT
- The 3/4 Enchilada, UT
I'm gonna keep the report short and sweet and any individual questions anyone has feel free to ask. For me, this was a personal highlight of my life. I started planning this out a good 6 months prior and made a basic itinerary for every day. I had campsites or motels planned/purchased. Routes planned. Route GPX files stored on my laptop. This ended up being huge because almost every hour was accounted for between riding, driving, and sleeping. Before I was cut short, I had managed to stick to the plan and had actually added a couple extra rides. All the trails were phenomenal trails but the trails that really stick out to me are the Buffalo Creek trails. The terrain is interesting, the dirt is solid and it has so many options for all skill levels. This is a trail you could take your decently in shape buddy to and he wouldn't die but you would have plenty of jumps, drops, rock crawls and bleeding fast sections. I was disappointed I didn't get to ride everything but I've managed to go back and ride a few of the trails I had on my list anyway (Soquel Demo forest, Oakridge, Tiger Mountain and Duthie).
Anyways, here is the video. Kinda just threw together what I thought was interesting. Pick your own soundtrack or listen to hub and crunchy dirt. You can check out my strava profile if you wanna see any of the ride details.
