Having doubts about my type, type me ?
Hello :) So at first I thought I was INFP, and then I thought that I was maybe ENFP, and now I am thinking I could be an ENTP. Or even an ESFJ, as I've read ESFJs can get mistyped as ENFPs. So your help would be greatly appreciated :) here goes.
What makes you angry?
- Reactionary ideas make me the most angry. Anything that sounds like "it's fine now why change it ?". I find infuriating any kind of rigidity in ideals. Ideals are not the things you should protect, when they're outdated you drop them. I believe democracy for example will be dropped eventually, when we find something better. People who defend ideas for the sake of ideas have lost sight of what is important and that is people and humanity as a species. People that criticize new trends, technologies, stuff like "social media is making us stupid cuz we don't go outside anymore blebleble", or "contemporary art is a scam", these kinds of things.
- Peer pressure. The fact that everyone is constantly under a pressure that is put on them by every single person around them. And people are forced to sacrifice who they truly are in order to survive in society. Basically the idea that "hell is other people". I wish I could free everyone from that. "The most loving parents and relatives commit murder with smiles on their faces. They force us to destroy the person we really are: a subtle kind of murder." I love that quote from Jim Morrison.
- People who have zero self awareness. "I hate people who do X" says someone who does X all the freaking time.
- When people don't use items the way they are designed to be used. Like when my grandmother would tear open the cereal boxes instead of using the easy opening and closing design, or worse when it was opened upside down and you couldn't read the game at the back of the box. Or when people use the shampoo bottle but don't let air inside the bottle after use, and the shape of the bottle is altered, and the bottom is not flat anymore and it could fall on your head when you shower (it has never actually fallen on my head).
What do you like/dislike most about yourself?
- I like that when something really gets my attention I go deep. I become unstoppable basically. My life revolves around it and I am full of energy and determination, more so than people who approach things with discipline. I also like that I know when to put myself first, I can have a lot of fun by myself, like at a party or in a club. People sometimes find me obnoxious though. I also like that I don't take things personally, so I almost never get offended and can keep a cool head.
- I dislike that I have so many things I want to do, but it takes me ages to actually do stuff. I have tons of projects that are very clear in my head, but it's very rare that I gather the motivation to actually get started on one of them, let alone get to the end of it.
Do you care about being fashionable? Why/Why not?
I like everything to be beautiful, so I like looking good and clothes are very important to me. I will put some thought into my outfit when I get dressed but I very much dislike being trendy. When I wear an item that is seen as trendy right now, because I like how it looks, I try to balance it out with something seen as really tacky. For example I will wear a shirt with a flower motif that a trendy guy who goes to hype music festivals could wear, but I will wear my pajama shorts under it, with socks and sandals. But nice socks and nice sandals.
What makes you feel secure?
Physical intimacy, being alone late at night listening to music or playing a game with headphones on. Getting drunk with my best friend.
What do you spend the most time thinking about?
Myself, what I did wrong and how I can be better. How people function, which way humanity should go, where humanity will end up. What that person I met thinks of me, what would that person think of me if she could watch me when I am by myself. Also "I really should do that important thing that I have been putting off for a month".
If you were a fruit or a vegetable, what fruit or vegetable would you be?
I have no idea, but lentils and aubergines/eggplants are my favourites.
How do you respond to clingy people?
I usually am more patient with them than most people. I try to give them some of my attention or affection. However when it becomes annoying, I will tell them, in a polite way, but a way that leaves no room for interpretation.
When you are romantically intrested in an individual, how do you generally act (shy, outgoing, annoying, etc.)?
I don't hide, when I'm interested in someone, I am straight forward with it. I will ask them out pretty quickly. I fall in love very fast, but I also fall out of love very fast. When I get a crush on someone, I pursue them for a while and they're all I think about, I imagine where we would live together, how we would raise our children... But if it falls apart, I move on very quickly, usually the next day I'm already thinking of someone else. Sometimes a tinder match is my crush, even before we text each other.
What's the most recent cool thing you've learned?
"Trust is the other's problem", it's a phrase from french philosopher Levinas. This is from a couple months ago, but I love it, it's my new life motto.
What portrayal of the future do you like the best?
I read a poem at an art exhibit a while back, that described a world where the machines are like vegetation, and humans are back to their mammal state. I think that is what humanity should aim at. A state where machines are like plants that provide for everyone of us, and we run around naked, without any taboo, no more peer pressure, and our only care is love, beauty and philosophy.
I also love post apocalyptic settings in science fiction. The more desolate, the better. The furthest away from our civilization it's gotten the more I like it.
Do you prefer to fit in or stand out?
Standing out. Sometimes I break conventions or taboos just for the sake of it. It's a way for me to test myself and see if I'm a prisonner of these conventions or if I'm choosing to respect them for my sake and everyone else's. I can break it again if I thought it was fun, but most of the time I never do the thing again.
