Is The Locust God a must have in standard Grixis Control?

I like many others in standard am giving grixis control with bolas a shot. So far it's a really fun deck and I enjoy it a lot. My friend who is a more experienced deck builder main boards 2 of [[the locust God]]. Does it seem like a must have in grixis control? Or something that's a little too cute?
