Thoughts on blue light filters on computer screens and glasses?

Have been reading about the use a blue light filter after reading this article

My monitor at work (Lenovo) has a built in blue light filter that makes the whites a bit warmer/almost yellow. (this is very similar if not identical to night shift on apple devices.) This is important since I use excel a lot, which is basically looking at a white piece of paper all day. I find that my eyes are more comfortable/less irritated after 8-9 hours of use daily. I am looking into the blue light filter on my next pair of glasses. Any thoughts/feelings on this with the industry? Clearly it's helpful during night time but does anyone else use this throughout the day?
