Is Shatter the new King Krush or the new Purify?
Shatter is a card that isn't good enough to see play. Neither is King Krush. When Un'Goro was announced, I saw a fair few people saying that there was no way that the OG Dinosaur of Hearthstone wouldn't receive some sort of help to make it playable. I don't know if those people were expecting a buff or some sort of synergy to thrust KK into the limelight, but it always struck me as an odd expectation.
I've seen some similar talk about Shatter given the upcoming expansion. People are speculating that freeze effects will become more prevalent in KFT, and I've seen a few people expecting that Shatter will become really good. Personally, I don't see it. I think Shatter is just an objectively bad card.
But speaking of objectively bad cards, Purify is objectively bad but it sees play now. This is because of more minions being released that synergize well with not just Purify, but a few other cards as well. All of those synergies make for a decent deck. It doesn't make Purify a good card, but the pros outweigh the cons enough to make it valuable enough to put in the deck.
I can't see Shatter receiving the same benefit as Purify. At the end of the day, it's still multi-card single-target removal. I wouldn't bet on it become good, so I think it's gonna be the next King Krush.
