Any love for Void Star?

I just finished this one after buying it on a whim and not knowing what to expect. I was pleasantly surprised by the prose and characters; this book is an example of extremely well written sci-fi, which in all honesty is hard to come by. No cardboard cutouts here, no clunky dialogue, no long winded technical descriptions. I will say that the author tends to wax on a bit about flowery descriptions of the physical setting, but it's not as bad as Kim Stanley Robinson gets. The plot was a bit more difficult than average to tease out (which I honestly enjoy); I'm going to need to re-read it to really get what the AI's were doing.

Most importantly in my opinion: the world was extremely believable. It wasn't so much a grim dystopia as much as a description of what the future would likely resemble if things carry on more or less as they are now. The end of the world isn't nigh, but there are still a shit ton of miserable destitute people just trying to get by.

I'd heartily recommend this if you enjoyed books like Children of Time, the Spin Trilogy (Chris Moriarty), and The Windup Girl.
