[DIPLOMACY] A Second International Geophysical Year?

Portugal is speaking out to the nations of the world. 2057 is coming, a year that will mark the 100 year anniversary for the start of the International Geophysical Year. The IGY was a scientific project held by nations across the world, of which all states could participate if they decided to. It was a project that marked a dawn of new scientific development and ingenuity. It was the driving force for joint scientific prosperity and understanding in the IGY that paved the way for many advancements for humanity. The creation of the Antarctic Treaty lies directly at the feet of the IGY, a greater understanding in polar activity and geography was generated thanks to the project along with numerous advancements towards Human activity in space.

The Portuguese therefore desire to looks to potential participants for a Second International Geophysical Year, establishing new aims and objectives for the world to achieve together. To cooperate on, to truly make strides in the name of a greater understanding of our world and consequently, ourselves. Nations interested in potentially participating are urged to make this interest aware to the Portuguese so that states may be invited to discussions in advance for programs to pursue for the year.
