Need help with new shy adopted kitten

Discussion

Hi all. I adopted a cute little 9 week old shy guy. I just brought him home today. He was raised by dogs and seems to not be bothered by my two, but is generally shy and hidey. He's been hanging inside this triangle thing for the last 2 hours.

I want any tips on how to make him more comfortable. I know he needs time and today he's probably overwhelmed. Right now I have him inside a penned area and he hasn't left his hiding spot.

Another thing, I'd like to keep him confined while I'm at work while he's still small. I have the litter set up in the laundry room and that's where I'd like it to live permanently. I have been told it's best to introduce it in the place I plan for it to live. He has already proven himself to be a master of hiding and ended up behind the washer already by climbing the fence I used to block off the area I didn't want him. Any suggestions? Maybe a material he can't climb?
