Took psilocybin - very small dose. Found myself to be agitated and anxious. Thoughts?

So I posted recently about wanting to try psilocybin but worrying about how it would go because I suffer from anxiety. I decided to go with a small dose. I went to a nice relatively private beach (although there were still people) and my bf was my sitter.

I can't say exactly how much it was but I can explain what it felt like.

  • slightly detached from reality

  • colours didn't seem vibrant but everything seemed a bit sharper. Felt like there was something not quite real about my surroundings.

  • at first I had some interesting thoughts and there was a small time during which I felt quite content. I was thinking a lot during this time but it wasn't negative

  • then I became aware of my anxiety and it started really bothering me

  • starting experiencing very high levels of anxiety, became quite panicky. Took me probably over an hour to get through it. I kept thinking I was going to run out of air (which is a consistent thought with my usual anxiety). It was just that it was quite intense and I found it difficult to think straight or explain to myself why I wasn't going to die.

  • after that time i remained agitated. Something just didn't seem right. I wondered if I was going to be stuck in this new strange reality. i couldn't explain how this reality was different to the one before, but something seemed off.

  • slightly visuals - things got a bit wavy. things FELT wavy even if i closed my eyes.

  • then finally perhaps 6 hrs later i started feeling a bit more normal.

so, i'm not sure how much of that was anxiety related and how much of that was psilocybin. Anyone had any experiences with small doses? or any thoughts about my experience?

I want to try a higher dose but knowing how anxious i got just from a small dose, I wonder if i'd be able to talk myself through my anxiety at a higher dose. I really want to though. I want to face my anxiety. It's just that every time I start coming close to facing it, I start turning and running.

[EDIT - thanks everyone! You've all been really helpful in processing this experience]
