Adjusting/Calibrating Baratza Vario for Espresso?

Hey there, so I recently bought a Vario secondhand and am trying to calibrate it for espresso, but even the lowest setting seems to be a touch too coarse for a decent shot.

I've attempted calibrating it to where it says it needs to be in the manual (the motor should slow down a little halfway up on the micro lever), but it still seems too coarse (I took home a shot I pulled from my job for comparison).

Dare I tighten it further, or should I just consider it as fine as it can possibly go, for fear of having the burrs touch?

Anyone else experience this with their Vario?
