My fasting insulin is 29.2, help?

I have been diagnosed prediabetic and PCOS and those were my test results. The doctor doesn't want to see me again for three months but I want to know how long it generally takes to lower that. I have been trying to conceive and the doctor says the insulin is what's keeping me from ovulation. Any help on timeframes or anything like that.
