Fear and Loathing in Austin
Hi everyone, I recently forced myself to get out and start going to concerts and during a very short time period I saw Coheed, Mastodon, and ATDI in Austin. I was beyond excited for Mastodon, being one of my favorite bands and all. To mark the occasion, I decided to take a good dose of mushrooms before hand. This is the story as it occured.
When I arrived at the show during May I ate 4 g of shrooms right after EODM walked off stage. I am usually much more of a LSD person as I enjoy the head space a little more and my body handles it better. Being fairly experienced (tripped 30+times, 3 tabs or more) I was not too worried about going to my first Mastodon concert on a good dose of schlooms, but holy shit guys...that was by far one of the most powerful trips I have ever had in my life.
When they started to play Bladecatcher, the stage began to rise out of the ground and at the very top of this monolith stood four warlocks capable of immense power and suggestion with their control over air and rhythm. From my mezz. seat I could see the black magic ritual beginning to take hold of the floor audience as they descended into madness and rapturous abandon as they began to rip each other apart.
Soon the spell reached my very soul and blood began to ooze from every pore in my body as I succumbed to the ancient evil before me. The progenitor of my suffering being a bizarre red haired man, running his fingers along his staff in patterns only discernible to the esoteric order of Mastodon, seemingly shouting some bizarre series of indiscernible curses upon me.
I was over taken and pulled my hair over my eyes, seeking refuge from the onslaught of mathematical airnumancy overtaking me and the fellow concert goers. Then suddenly, I sense a presence, a hand has appeared gripping the edge of the seat next to mine.
It belongs to a police officer.
I force my gaze back upon the spectacle before me, ever-aware of the ringed hand next to my shoulder. I reach for my pint and drain the last of it in one gulp and accept my ultimate fate in the maelstrom of terror and metal I had found myself in.
It was one of the best experiences of my life, I am seeing them again in October.
Just wanted to share (: Have a good day
