Please help me explain how this is happening. I am a rational person

Reposted from another thread: When I was young and first married my ex and I bought a very large, very old house in Albert Lea, MN, built in 1908. It was very large with a walk-up attic an a full basement. I am open-minded but I had never experienced anything unexplainable. My ex was raised Catholic and really had no opinion on paranormal one way or the other. One night my ex was watching tv in the basement and I was in the upstairs bathroom brushing my teeth. We had a whole floor of rooms between us. Suddenly I felt a huge presence drifting through the house. It started on the west side and drifted through the house leaving through the east side, like a breeze going through an open window. This presence scared the shit out of me! It was negative and VERY angry. I dropped my toothbrush in the sink and started running down the steps to find my ex. I met him running up the stairs to meet me. I've never seen his eyes that big and round. We looked at each other and I said "Did you feel that?" He said "Yeah. It just went through the house." I said "And it was pissed!" I will never forget that. We both felt an enraged presence at the same time two full stories apart in the same place at the same time. Had I been alone I would have chalked it up to imagination but since both of us felt it at the same time I give it credence. We had many other strange experiences in that house like pictures falling off the walls and going into the kitchen and all the cabinet doors are opened. My very young son had also pointed to a man sitting at the end of my bed (we were cuddling in the middle of the day, watching tv and just hanging out) and asked who he was - I saw no one there. He was emphatic that there was a man there.
I left my ex and moved back home and he sold the house. He hated being there alone. He said that house hated him (looking back I can't blame the house - he was a jerk). After I left him I moved to Sioux Falls, SD with my son and bought a small ranch-style home built in 1955. The basement had a smell that I could not get rid of and I noticed the previous owners had those green pine car fresheners hanging in strange places. I always felt something down there but I never felt uncomfortable. Talking to neighbors who had grown up on the block I found that there was once a door in the backyard that led to an underground room. This did not make sense because the house already had a basement so it had no need of a storm cellar. I never did find that room or any evidence of a door but my neighbor was adamant that he went into that cellar as a child. Before I sold that house to move to California my boyfriend was helping to tear down walls that had gotten wet several years prior so they were removed in the laundry room of that basement. We put up wainscoting walls and went to bed, exhausted. While we were on the verge of sleep we heard a female voice talking in the room. My boyfriend said to me "What was that?" I said "Oh good. You heard it too." Once again I couldn't chalk it up to imagination because I had verification that he heard it too. He said "I am never again going into that basement". After two years in California I was transferred to South Carolina where I bought another house. This house was built in 1986. It is large and has a 1.35 tree lined lot in a subdivision. I love this house but electronics (desktop, printer, DVD player) would turn on all by themselves. My friend and I were watching a movie in my living room and drinking wine and a computer turned on by itself across the room and she got a little freaked out but by now I am used to it. I asked whatever entity to please stop that and it did. My visiting friend stated that she had seen a male figure walking through the house. I can feel the presence too. He is not negative, he just lives here. He does not scare me and he did not scare her. He just is. Sometimes though, he will hide clothing and the cat will watch the air and follow things I cannot see. Please don't ridicule me. These things have happened and I have eye witnesses.
