Question about BD rips and drives

So the biggest reason i got into plex was to have all my BD movies and shows in 1 pace and not have to deal with discs anymore.

its been going really great up until now, but as of my last few rips i'm starting to get issues; plex reaches a point in the video and it just ends, and moves onto the next one.

I've found that skipping past the exact time works, but now i'm getting this more and more often, and i think its my drive. I've been using an LG CP40NG10 and it's worked really well until now.

getting to my question: how are y'all ripping your dvd's and bd's? are internal drive just better than external ones? is getting an internal drive and a sata2USB adapter viable?
