How to setup up a 2.0 system when it can't be placed directly in front of you.

I want to set up a 2.0 system however it can't be placed directly in front of me because it would be in the walk way. The only option would be on the walls beside where I'd be sitting (one on the left wall, one on the right) another option would be to have it behind me (one on the left side of the back wall and one on the right side of the back wall).

I guess what I'm asking is which set up would be better?
