Was anyone here watching Olympic wrestling when Kurt Angle won the gold medal?

I know, not exactly the squared circle kind of wrestling, but the achievement Kurt Angle had out of the SC is very impressive. I was talking about it with my stepdad, and he told me that Kurt was a big time underdog. He was essentially just a slot filler and wasnt even close to expected to win anything, but suddenly he starts wrestling better than anyone has seen him wrestle once he made it to the Olympics, and he just climbs up the board all the way to winning a gold medal. If anyone could fill me in on how exactly all of this went down that would be wonderful.
