Budget laptop for Dev

I am looking to get a new laptop for android development. I've been using a Mac but I have to return it in two weeks.

I have been looking at a laptop

i5 5/6th gen 4-8gb w/ option to upgrade the ram to 16gb

So I was wondering is it still worth it for an older gen intel? or would it be best to get an i3 7th gen

Max budget is $500 within 2weeks

Double in 6wks :/
