Shakedown Request
Just returned from a backpacking trip and went through and culled my pack.
This list is for overnights.
Thanks for any ideas!
Location/temp range/specific trip description : New Hampshire White Mountains. List is for spring/summer. Temps can range from 30-90, usually 50-75, and very wet lately.
Goal Baseweight (BPW) : It's 15.3 right now. With a new quilt (on order) and a new pack (still pondering) it should be 13. I don't really know. This is new to me. Maybe 10?
Budget : I'm not buying a $200 fleece. And I'm not going to go buy a lighter head lamp or things like that. More looking for ways to trim smaller items at low cost, not go buy new things (I was happy to buy new tent/quilt/pack). Pack I'll spend around $250 - looking at the ULA circuit.
Non-negotiable Items: My clothes. I'm tall so my clothes probably weigh more than yours. Also I sweat a lot and nothing makes me happier than dry clothes (or more miserable than sitting around in damp clothes) so things like camp pants can't go. Although if I could find a light dress to hike in and then lighter pants to put on, that would work too.
Hot food. My cooking kit feels heavy but not sure what to trim.
My pillow . I'm a side sleeper and I started sleeping better once I quit trying to make a pillow out of a stuff sack of sweaty clothes.
Solo or with another person?: Solo for now.
Additional Information : I am not a Spartan and have no interest in being one. Picture your aunt who loves backpacking but also loves a hotel stay at the end of a camping trip. That's me. I just want a lighter base weight so if I want to bring a book or some fresh blueberries for my oatmeal I can.
