unarmed combat..is it worth it

I can't imagine even if a runner maxed out his strength there would ever be a time it would matter with all the armor around. A called shot or something to by pass jackets and coats but aside from that why even train it. That also gos for anything strength based the levels of armor in this game make it point less. What am i missing.
