Parking options for an annual pass without parking

Hey all, So. Cal resident looking at getting the next tier for an annual pass. REALLY not looking forward to paying $20 a trip for parking when I go 1-2 times a month. I know people have mentioned that downtown Disney will mostly leave the gates open or just wave people thorough if it's past park closing. What are my other options?
