Total Begginer wanting to invest in BTC

Hey, I wanted to invest in 2015 but had too little balls. Didn't trust my gut feeling, now I have that feeling again. I think it's good to invest now however I dunno how to do it right. Do I just buy BTC off of coinbase and transfer it to my wallet to stay safe during Aug 1?
