Gaining Muscle during 5 Day Water Fast
So I'm trying to burn off the remaining stubborn fat I have on my body, in order to lean out. I intermittent fast everyday and only eat during a 4 hour window. I usually workout 4 times a week.
To my surprise, I've gained back about 6 lbs after doing this this past week. I'm sure most of it is water weight as I eat a maximum of 1500 calories, most of it being protein. I completely avoid carbs also. I'm sure I'm gaining muscle but I want to avoid gaining fat to "bulk up".
I started a 5 day water fast yesterday so I could hopefully lean out some more, but I'm worried in regards to muscle growth. If I workout with weight training exercises, is it possible to gain muscle with no protein? Or keep them conditioned?
I know fasting is supposed to boost production of HGH but I have no idea what that means in terms of weightlifting during a water fast with no protein consumed. Are there benefits to weight lifting whilst fasting? What will happen to my muscles if I weight train and don't eat?
Thanks for any advice, looking for some answers
