Announcing the Galactic Hub Science Corps

Greetings Interlopers, hope your journeys have been filled with interesting discoveries recently.

In line with the recent Subprojects, as well as our growing alliance with the Deep Thought Collective, I've decided to create the Galactic Hub's first official subfaction. We've previously had roles people can define themselves as, and that won't be changing. But this is an organized group with specific goals, not just people who enjoy certain aspects of the game like roles are.

#What is the Science Corps?

The Galactic Hub Science Corps will be an association of players in Galactic Hub space who are interested in researching so-called "Hub Science" - measuring specific aspects of the game which aren't as obvious as, say, searching for diplos.

Galactic Hub Science Officers will be marked by the upper-case Greek letter Psi in their flairs (Ψ). Science Corps operations will be primarily based out of Kogii'ithip, unless project requirements demand otherwise.

#Signing Up

To sign up as a Science Officer, you must meet certain requirements. Anyone can meet these requirements with relatively little effort.

  • Most importantly, must be interested in this type of thing! The Science Corps is totally optional, so people who sign up should actually want to participate.

  • Must have some background in Hub Science, ie: created software/website tool for the Hub, measured some subtle NMS data, participated in a Subproject (which you can still do now), or anything else you feel qualifies you as a Hub Scientist.

  • Must be located in the Galactic Hub (just your character, your base can be anywhere). You're free to leave the Hub anytime, as long as you have a way to return. If you leave permanently, you should also leave the Science Corps.

#What are the specific goals of the Science Corps?

The Science Corps' primary mission at this time will be the Subprojects. However, Science Officers may be directly contacted when new Subprojects are announced. Science Officers may also contact each other for easy assistance with non-official research projects.

More than having one specific project to complete, the goal of the Science Corps is just to have a coordinated group of Hub Scientists, in order to complete any number of projects and study a wide range of topics.

#What does the Deep Thought Collective have to do with this?

Stay tuned, new Subproject coming soon.
