Adopting a child from a non-Hague Adoption Convention country?
I'm asking this for a friend. The child is a member of her family (not immediate) who has been orphaned recently. She has a close relationship with the child already.
I've searched anywhere, the country isn't a "hot spot" for adoption and it has no formal adoption programme (not that the government would care anyway) and it's not a party to Hague Adoption Convention.
It's not on a list of countries where the child can become a British citizen if adopted either.
There isn't much info on adoption agencies websites.
Can she go to the country where the child resides and obtain a permission from child's guardians then come back to the UK to obtain an adoption order?
