Opinions on whether or not this could benefit recovery?

I am just finishing up my 2nd week of 2 a day workouts and had myself what I like to call a "treadmill thought" while warming up this morning. I take two full 24 hour periods off for rest and recovery throughout a 7 day span. I do a lifting session in the A.M. and a lifting session in the P.M. and started wondering if instead of taking a full "Wednesday" off for instance if I chopped my night session off and my morning session off the next day and got 24 hours of rest that way. I would then be getting at least 8 hours of sleep during my recovery "day" and then wouldn't have to miss a day in the gym either. I would assume it'd have to be an early A.M session and a late P.M. session to allow for recovery but I thought id see if maybe there is some benefit here?
