Log Entry 18.

It's been 25 years since we first noticed the strange, glowing orb among the stars. At first we were scared shitless. Our own planet was at the brink of war and everyone thought that this is it. Someone finally made a weapon advanced enough to wipe us out. Then, nothing. The dubious black point in our sky just sat there, waiting. Odd things started happening on the planet. People went missing without a trace and small battles were fought between previously unseen groups.

I remember, it was in october, one year after the Hydra came that humanity witnessed its first wonder. A man with wonderful abilities, dressed in a sanguine garment stepped forward, claiming that he would protect us. We did not know what he was going to protect us from, or how he planned to do that. But there he was. Called himself the Shade. Saying that the grim object above us is our only chance to make a legacy. Legacy. We never knew up until that point how important this word was.

A few struggling years later we reached the Hydra. As it turned out, it was a black hole of some sorts, but without the chaotic nature. We ventured into it, and were taken aback by the sights. You see, there was a hall in it. A great obsidian like room, with twelve abyssal doors. A great table sat in the middle, twelve chairs around it. And humanity witnessed its second wonder. On the third chair from the left a tall creature rested jauntily. A person from another planet. Boy we were excited. We've just made our first contact with an alien species and i got to be in the group. He introduced himself as Kuru. We shook hands with a big smile and started asking questions. He told us that he's just an ambassador. Because the room we stood in was a council chamber. And that the Hydra is a strange and beautiful creature with a sentient mind. Its only goal is to bring planets and cultures together. Its original name was the Wiär and we humans came up with the Hydra. For, you see there was a strange method in it. Everytime a planet somehow seceded from the black hole, two new planet showed up in its place. We should have known then, that something was not right. But we were blind.

It's 2150 now. Our planet is as good as gone. Only the Shade and his companions are fighting on the desolate surface for something we do not see now. They say it's hope, but they're fighting for vengance. We all know that now. We do not believe in hope anymore. Those humans who survived are scattered throughout the remaming allied galaxies, longing to see a familiar sight again. And as for the Shade, he is broken. Kuru tricked everyone and leveled the playing field, then cast us into the darkness. They say that the Shade has a plan. But i dont know. We didn't hear anything from him in a year. Maybe he's gone. Just as the promise of a brighter future. Still, there are some questions yet to be answered. What did the Hydra want from us? Why did it connect us to the rest of the galaxies? Where did it come from?
