2 Months Before Zapad 2017, Lukashenko Meets With Poroshenko In Ukraine. Opinions?

Lukashenko made an official visit to Ukraine & met with Poroshenko today. It seems they are on friendly terms with each other.

I am wondering if this is some sort of message to Russia. I've seen some evidence that Belarus is wary of Russian intentions towards it, but it's really hard to tell what in reality is really happening.

Any opinions? Is this meeting all about nothing or is Belarus asserting their independence from Russia?
