Got So Close to A Lucid Dream

Experience

For some context, I'm a twelve-year-old INTJ-T boy, that is very invested in lucid dreaming, astral projection, dimensional jumping, and tulpamancy. I plan to achieve all of these one-by-one, in that order.

I made a throwaway account just for this post, since, well, I'm twelve.

I have a feeling that my subconcious is genuinely trying to help me out with lucid dreaming. However, it didn't succeed in my last one.

My problem is that I have very bad dream recall. I've done things to try and strengthen it. Last night (or was it this morning?) I finally had a memorable dream.

In the dream, I was at school, and was walking to a class, alongside some strangers. I was lost, and went into the opposite direction. One of them had a male voice, and it exclaimed something around the lines of:

"Jeez, I have to do a reality check whenever I get confused like this."

Yes, that is literally what the dream character said. The unfortunate thing was, I woke up soon after.

Has anyone else had a dream experience, and miss something obvious that should've made you realize it was a dream?

Does anybody have some advice on how to get closer to achieving a lucid dream?
