Looking to do a podcast with 4-8 of my friends...

I'm lost as to what would be the most efficient way to document what we want. Does every need a mic and headphones? Am I better off with a camera to document this and possible just getting the audio from that. Im trying to figure out what is the minimum with the most value quality wise but I have no idea what tech wise is required to pull this off.
