Do languages where the words are shorter have more vowels?

I've been thinking about this for a little while and I would like to know your opinion.

Words in languages like French or English are preeminently short, with one or two syllables, and have more vowels (16 and 19 if I'm not mistaken.)

However, in languages where words tend to be longer, like Spanish or Arabic, words are longer, many many times with 3 or 4 syllables, and have less vowels, 5 and 3.

I know that there might be languages with longer words and more vowels and vice-versa, that's why I'm asking about your opinion.

Are word lenght and number of vowels related?
