Automating account config

Hi, I am curious to know if there is any way to automate account setups.

Use case in point call centre environment on Linux boxes. Fairly basic machines.

Would populate their email address and server details so that thunderbird on startup should just work.

Currently theorising that you would have to

1. Set up a base config with test email account and empty inbox
2. Zip up profile
3. Run script on another machine, downloads and unpacks the base profile and test email.
4. Run tool on prefs.js to swap out all test@domain.com references and swap for myuser@domain.com
5. And I'm guessing here. On startup it would fail on password or finding a matching password for keys3.db and then prompt?

Can see on google few posts of similar ideas and a few mentioned working with prefs.js I can see logins.js but this is already encoded.

If anyone has any pointers or a definite yay or nay as to wether this is even possible I would be very grateful.
