6. taichi (wa kaere) - i know what you're thinking but I've always been a lucha mark and there is no greater disrespect in this business than stealing a mask

7. tama tonga - this was peak slippery eel to borrow the purocast moniker, loved every bit of it and teases out everyone's most fantasy booked faction split a little more. Sarcastic rope running will get you power ranked every time and so will being out for yourself in the g1 despite intra stable matchups. From disappointment to power ranked woooo.

8. yugi nagata - maybe deserves better than the 2-6 points hes going to win in block A but time is undefeated and that is the story new japan tells, somehow has the least battered body of the remaining 3rd generation or possibly just the best capacity to work through/around his current physical limitations

9. zach sabre junior - two career g1 matches and two very solid if not very good performances, glad hes in new japan and glad he is booked as a heavyweight

10. YOSHI-HASHI - i never thought there was a chance or reason for you to win until you made me for a split second, take a bow la

11. hiroshi tanahashi - god what this man puts his broken body through to make people happy, i hope they give him at least 3 months off to heal and let him come back at new years dash or something

12. kota ibushi fighting out of zsj's world of sport submissions, just a giant beautiful mass of fast twitch muscle fibers desperately looking for a rope break or last ride powerbomb

Honorable Mention: everyone involved in the LIJ undercard tags, fun as well as pretty solid matches that got me very hyped for day 4 block matches of EVIL v Juice and MiSu v SANADA

VERY Honorable Mention: togi makabe taking a king kong knee drop to the mat to kick off a p good final third of the match vs tomohiro ishii the peoples champion, the bleach bomber doesnt really do spots like that anymore and i would imagine his knees are grinding down to dust as we speak

Dishonorable Mention: disrespectful kazuchika okada borrowing the camera after the match was such a cocky prick move, like oh yeah wow you got the fall over gedo in this tag match definitely yep

Disappointment: zsj vs the wandering kota ibushi not getting 5-7 more minutes

A fond farewell to naito working the leg, you were vicious but you never lead to a leg lock submission. Hopefully we see you again one day with a better leg lock finish than the pluma blanca (which really wasnt bad, just buried).
