Crazy experience...
Prior to this, I've only had 2 short lucid dreams. Most of the reality checks don't work for me but I've started to notice that holding my nose and trying to breathe works really well, although it didn't initially.
Firstly let me mention a few points about this experience:
-
I've had dozens of sleep paralysis experiences when I was younger, I know I didn't actually experience any in the real world during this
-
I didn't astral project (and never have) but I believe I was dreaming of astral projecting for some reason and became lucid at points during it
-
I've had false awakenings but this was just mad
-
There's a TLDR at the bottom.
After waking up at around 7am, I went back to sleep while doing the MILD "I will realise I'm dreaming". After falling asleep I woke up and asked somebody if I was dreaming. They said no, but I held my nose to check and I could breathe. But everything was just so vivid I couldn't believe it, so I did it a few more times thinking I was holding my nose wrong. I concluded it was a dream but I was still a bit wary as it was just so realistic.
Then all of a sudden I just teleport back to my bed as if I've just woken up again. My body is completely frozen, just like sleep paralysis. However, it felt like I could move an invisible form of myself. While I observed my hand stuck still on my bed, I could feel myself moving an invisible hand up towards my face as if I had an invisible body inside my physical one. I started wiggling my finger on my invisible hand and the outline of a finger on its own started to appear above my physical dream one.
I started to try to get out of bed but whenever I moved my invisible body, it kept getting pulled back to my physical body. Eventually I managed to get out my bed and reach my bedroom door, but just as I go to open the door I wake up into my still paralysed body in the bed. I get up again and this exact scenario repeats around 5 more times.
After the 5th time or so that I fling back/wake up to my body in bed, this time it's not paralysed. I assume I've finally woken up and manage to get downstairs. I'm not lucid at this point but decide to do a reality check anyway and become lucid yet again after doing the nose check. I was in the living room at this point and go to the kitchen to try and spawn something, then all of a sudden.... you guessed it, I get flung back to a paralysed body in my bed!
Yet again after getting flung back, while my body is paralysed I can still move an invisible version of myself but it's hard. I try to keep moving towards the door and after about twice of doing this but getting flung back, it feels like I've actually woken up for real this time. I manage to move physically and go downstairs and start telling someone about this crazy dream I had which can only be explained as.... an astral projection type of dream scenario, where at many points I was lucid? Didn't word it quite like that though
Then I kid you not, I wake up in my bed. At this point I'm almost scared to get up in case it's just an invisible body that will move or if I wake up in my bed again. But thankfully I woke up for real that time... I hope
Sadly although I was lucid during about 75% of this dream, evidently I didn't have much control. My subconscious really wanted to keep me in a dream bed. Also for some reason whenever I become full on lucid I lose the ability to talk in the dream, I can only think. It's really annoying.
TLDR; I had a crazy dream where at many points I became lucid, but I kept getting flung back/waking up in my dream bed. Many times my body was paralysed in the bed but I could move an invisible body instead. While getting up with an invisible body, it still kept teleporting me back to my bed. During this I also had some false awakenings where I could move a physical body of which I again became lucid in, only to be flung back to my dream bed yet again. Then I thought I woke up and told some people about this crazy dream, only to AGAIN wake up in my bed. That was the last of it.
