2 days into the game I'm having fun but I have no idea what I'm doing

Long story short, the game is fun, I finished Act I and II (seasonal hero, adventure). I'm not sure what's happening though, when I check the previous acts again they seem to reset, and I played 1 " ! " of the act III and when I reopened the game it was as new too.

Should I keep doing what I'm doing?
