My aunt is visiting and I was not told she'd be bringing my cousin's crazy kid.
So my aunt is in town. She's a nice lady and I was excited to swing by to see her for a while. I walk in to my parent's house and see my cousin's oldest son who is about 6 or 7. He's on the couch with a cookie, a PB&J, watching kids videos on TV and playing kids games on a tablet. Over the course of me being there for about an hour, maybe hour and a half, this kid has downed 3 cookies, his PB&J, an apple juice, and 2 apples. He's running around and throwing a dog bone all over the living room for my parent's ancient dog to slowly retrieve and laughing excessively and trying to get involved in what my aunt and I are doing.
Worst of all, my parent's house has a pool. So this kid sits with the back door all the way open and stares at the water. Mind you, it's almost 100°F today and flies were flooding into the house, bumping it up to 81° inside. My aunt just glaced at him and let him sit there for several minutes before suggesting that he close the door. I'm not about to discipline a child that I know next to nothing about, but I find it very disrespectful to allow your daughter's son to sit in a doorway with the door open in the middle of summer to stare at a pool that can be viewed through the glass of the door instead. I had planned to swim today but now I am not going to because I don't have the energy to deal with a hyper 6/7 year old.
I'm sure he's just "being a kid", but I still don't want to deal with it and I'm upset that I wasn't even notified that he was coming along for her visit. He's known for breakdowns and tantrums and I want nothing to do with any of that. Luckily I'm only visiting for a few hours, and soon I'll be back with my doggo!
