I am so lost

I just hit Tier 4 weapons and armour. I got the ability to use them so i bought them off the store.

I spent all day yesterday running around gathering many materials but didnt even scratch the surface of getting the ability to make or use tier 4 tools.

Am i doing something wrong? What are you currently doing/focusing on?
