So I went back to Android N after running O
After having a phone with exceptional battery life and seeing that slashed down to 20% to 50% by running Android O, I've went back to N. I just hope that O due to its excessive charge/discharge/hot cycles has not permanently damaged the battery. The issue has been around for quite some weeks now and I just can't reliably expect the battery to be alive even half way through a day nevermind after the end.
UPDATE:
After going back to Android N roughly 2 days ago I can tell everyone it was the right move.
- The phone is now always cool, even when charging
- UI performance is better and snappier
- Most importantly, the battery lasts MUCH longer now. In a period that would have completely drained my battery on O has only used 25% on N. Night and day!
UPDATE 2 - July 29th
Of course, DP4 came out within milliseconds of me going back to N... Anyway, last night I went back to DP4 after reading that "Battery issues have been fixed". So far it seems like it has. I lost exactly the same amount of battery late evening and overnight as I did on N. Long day today, so I'll see if it holds up during the day.
