256 colors on Windows 2000?
I found a bunch of old childhood games on archive.org and decided to make a virtual machine to play them, I went with Windows 2000 because that's what I had back then and I didn't know which games wouldn't run on '95. But I'm running into a problem, all of the games require a color resolution of 256, but it seems I can't go any higher than 16. I've looked it up but the only fixes I'm getting are for '98, '95, and ME.
Is there a way to be able to set the color resolution to 256 on 2000? Or should I abort mission and go with '98 or '95? The current version I have installed on the machine is Advanced Server SP 4, so would a different version of 2000 work?
