When is it too soon to move on? Am I jumping into things too soon?

How soon is too soon to move on? For context, I recently broke up with my ex a couple of months back, basically at the beginning of the summer months. Recently I started talking to this girl again who I'm actually really really into as she is sweet and smart and funny and intelligent.

I've known the girl I'm currently talking to since we were both in middle school and we've both recently admitted to carrying crushes for one another since we were young. I've seen her once every couple of years for various events but now she lives out of state as she's going to college away from home and so am I. We have also always kept in contact on and off for the past couple of years, less so in the last three due to my ex-girlfriend who didn't like her because she had known about my long-standing crush on the girl I'm currently talking to.

We both also finally have admitted to wanting to try to start something more serious and see each other again soon. We talk everyday through text and on the phone and we've been sending photos too.

What I guess I'm trying to ask is, is this too soon? Am I jumping into something a little more serious way too quickly? Should I try to slow it down or should I just see where this ends up going? Any help or advice would be appreciated!
