Will I be able to upgrade my version of the game at any point and get the same bonuses?

This game looks like a lot of fun but I still want to try it out before I decide to spend more and the cool bonuses like legendary heroes. If I buy the standard edition on xbox will I be able to upgrade and get the same rewards?
