Question regarding two player online

Hey. Loving the game so far, but when trying to play with a friend the only way we can do it so far is one of us join a game, then the other mash A on the user in the 'Friends' option, hoping to get into the lobby before it fills.

Has anyone found a way to queue as a duo for turf wars?

Thanks : )
