Does anyone know why there's straw chimney sweeps and ploughmen in Drummore along side the main road?

I drove through last week on the way to the lighthouse and the place was full of strawmen dressed up in 19th century workers outfits. Can't find any mention of it anywhere. Asked a mate from Castle Kennedy as well and he's clueless (and he didn't know either).
