Ford F-150, 2006, Spark plug debris inside cylinder
I had great difficulty removing the #3 spark plug, which had broken and sheared off. The extractor tool forced some of the ceramic and whatever bit of electrode was still intact into the cylinder. I ran a vacuum hose through the spark plug hole and assumed that I captured the debris, but on starting the engine it was clear that wasn't the case. Needless, perhaps to say, but I did not continue to run the engine. I have since put a borescope in that cylinder, but found no large pieces, only some tiny bits of what looks like ceramic. I can only assume the worst and that is, a big chuck has passed into one of the valves. Anyone know what damage I should expect or any further action? Of course, I would like to avoid pulling the head, but I may have no choice.
