I am In the U.S. and my vendor sent me a Honor X6 Chinese version BLN-AL30. Should I send it back?

My intent was to unlock the bootloader, root it and install a custom ROM. I've been reading for hours and I keep sinking deeper and deeper into a pit of confusion. There seem to be many guides for different models with big cautions about not trying it on any model that isn't specified, and reading post about features being different on each model ETC ETC. but I haven't found any specifics on this model.

At this point I'm ready to just return it and make sure I get a US version... BUUUTTTT the impatient part of me wants it now.

Is there any reason you can think of that I should hold on to it?
