[M4F] - Dear Kate...
Dear Kate,
I really hope that you haven't changed your address. I also hope that you did not tear this letter apart, after realizing who is it from. I know this isn't a nice way to start a message, but after our recent encounter, I feel that it's time to start making things right.
Ever since I've met you in that small cafe in Paris a month ago, I wasn't myself. Seeing your beautiful face tainted with tears as you poured your heart to me in the public, saddened me. And the brutal realization that I was the cause of those tears, saddened me even more but made me realize something really important. Despite the circumstances that were tied to our little reunion, I felt... different. Since we went our separate ways my life was... empty, hollow. The spark, the fire in my heart that you talked about with affection was gone. And seeing you again, even for a brief moment, and even if our reunion ended with you throwing a cup of hot espresso on me... I never felt better. Never felt more alive.
Which brings me to the reason, why I am writing this letter:
I'm sorry.
I know, that on paper those are only words and no amount of ink and written words can compensate the suffering that you've endured, but I am sorry. I know what I did. Ever since that cursed day, I've been living with the blame, with the incredible burden. I was ashamed of what I did, hell I still am. What I did was unforgivable.
I'm not going to make excuses, I'm not going to try and justify my actions. I'm simply going to write this:
I love you.
I never stopped. As time passed I couldn't stop thinking about you, about your gorgeous smile, about your gentle, soft voice. You were my everything. You still are. You still will be.
Now what I am about to write will sound incredibly bold and selfish, but for the last month the selfish part of me would like to ask for another chance.
I don't demand it. I'm asking for it. Allow me to make things right, allow me to have hope.
I've included one ticket to Rome with this letter. It's for you. With your permission and consent... I'd like to start anew. The same way we originally did.
Meet me near bookstand on Termini Train Station. Last day of July, 6:00 p.m.
Love,
Philip.
