Conflict zones for beginning

So I finished road to riches, gor myself 260m CR and had a few hours in RES with an eagle. Now I'm ready for my mercenary career. Red a lot about viper vs Cobra vs DBS. I decided I'll try them all in time. I finished grinding farseer, Elvina and the dweller, now grinding Tod. I have no affiliation with either faction so no FAS or imperial ships. I fitted a viper with fixed beams (I love beam lasers) and gimballed multicannons and now I'll start repping tod. So what fleet should I get? DBS? Viper? Suggested fittings for the starting fighter with decent amount of money but little skill ( a month old CMDR). What should be my path? I did RES but prefer cz for rp reasons but I'll probably start with nav beacons for Tod. I want to fiz my beams with the dweller, i have rep 3 with him and I love nimble ships so I thought viper is a good start but then i red about DBS and mk4 viper. What do you suggest?
