Is there a good comprehensive list to becoming a manufacturer?

I know NOTHING about producing but have had interest in it since 2010. I'd like to know what is a good route to take for learning how to become a chemist.

I'll edit to show my interest: What courses should I take that would be a good comfortable groundwork? Organic Chemistry is what I've gotten out of it, but does that breakdown any further or is any good first year OrgChem book fine?

The whole process seems extremely esoteric and I think that's what makes it more dangerous. Even books such as Uncle Fester's imply preknowledge.
