A sham statistic.

Look, I'm sure Cory Evans is a nice guy, decent human being, and all that. But on his recent podcast he tried to "unveil" RDP (Real Draft Position) as a useful metric to balance against ADP. The pod notes even call it " a new tool to utilize" and he claims it mitigates against the inherent biases of dynasty ADP rankings.

Except.... RDP is just player position rank from the previous year. Like, that's it. It's not even an aggregate stat of multiple years or something like that.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure prior-year player position ranks have been used in fantasy analysis before.

There's multiple flaws here, but I'll just stick to the obvious one: Please do not try to market a new metric, that isn't new at all... or even that interesting or helpful. If you want to say, "Hey I think we should balance ADP with prior year's actual standings since they are less subjective" then fine. A valid point, even if shortsighted (but of course, so is using straight ADP to analyze player value). But it's not cool to call it a "metric," much less "new." It's neither.
