Help!? I'm a server with tax questions about tips and tip outs. Can you input amounts that differ from your W2?

As a server my last job reported all of my tips for me, but I tipped out other employees (bar,Busser,kitchen,etc.) that were not taken out of the reported amounts that showed on my w2. I usually do my own taxes but I'm this case I was told that inputting an amount less than what was reported on my w2 was not ok. Is this something I can do on my own or should I pay the money to get my taxes done? I don't makes that much and I don't know which way would net me more and/or keep me safe from the irs. Any advice would be helpful! Thanks!!!

Edit: I live and work in California. I know that things are different in a lot/most states.
