[DISCUSSION] Why is virtuoso technique looked down upon in general in guitar, but not in other instruments?

Take a listen to Giant Steps by Coltrane or anything by Charlie Parker, they are mindboggling. Not my taste in music at all, but I would never talk down on them. Yet on this subreddit, even the more listenable stuff like Steve Vai is borderline shamed on by people that prefer blues, and seen as lesser musicians than Slash.
